The invention relates to an anti-theft device for the steering column of a motor vehicle and to the associated assembly method. The anti-theft device comprises an anti-theft body (15) and a locking module (23) intended to be received in a blind housing in the anti-theft body (15), said locking module (23) including: a bolt (25) mounted such that it can move between an unlocked position in which it is intended to be disposed at a distance from the steering column, and a locked position in which it is intended to lock said column; a bolt guide (27) in which the bolt (25) is movably mounted and from which the bolt can project out in the locked position; and an elastic return element (39) for the bolt, designed to urge the bolt (25) into the locked position, characterised in that it comprises a reinforcing cover (43) capping the bolt guide so as to be disposed between the wall forming the base of the blind housing (12) and the bolt guide (27), said reinforcing cover (43) blocking an opening (30) in the bolt guide (27) by compressing the elastic return element (39) for the bolt, said reinforcing cover (43) and said bolt guide (27) having complementary pre-holding members which co-operate with the elastic return element in order to hold the reinforcing cover (43) at the bolt guide (27). |
