The method involves pulverizing foam (2) i.e. polyurethane foam, to be polymerized on a face of a flexible and elastic support element (1), and placing a lining cover (3) on a forming die (6). The support element is pressed against the lining cover with a layer of the foam interposed between the support element and the lining cover at ambient temperature, by using a punch (10) having a flat bearing surface in support against the support element. A sub-assembly obtained from the forming die is separated after polymerization of the foam. The support element is made of expanded polypropylene.
