Provided is a production method for a polarizing film, the production method including, in order, a swelling treatment step wherein an elongate polyvinyl alcohol resin film that has a thickness of 65 μm or less is immersed in a swelling bath and then drawn out of the swelling bath and a dyeing treatment step wherein the film that has been drawn out of the swelling bath is immersed in a dyeing bath and then drawn out of the dyeing bath, said steps being achieved as a result of the polyvinyl alcohol resin film being wound out from a source material roll and conveyed. The curl angle of at least one of the width-direction ends of the polyvinyl alcohol resin film is less than 90° when the film is immersed in the swelling bath.
