This water pump is provided with a pump housing (2) having a pump chamber (3) inside, a drive shaft (7) rotatably supported within the pump housing (2), a pulley (5) which has a flange wall (5a) secured to one end of the drive shaft (7) and which is integrally formed from a synthetic resin material containing glass fibers (25), and an impeller (8) integrally rotatably provided to the other end of the drive shaft (7) and accommodated in the pump chamber (3), six through-holes (23) being formed in the flange wall (5a), and the glass fibers (25a) surrounding the through-holes (23) being oriented randomly. This makes is possible to minimize loss of strength in the pulley.
