The present invention relates to a colored pearlescent pigment, and more specifically, to a pearlescent pigment; to a manufacturing method thereof; and to a cosmetic composition containing the pearlescent pigment as an active ingredient, wherein the pearlescent pigment has red, violet, blue and green colors due to an optical color effect by treating the surface of a simple pearlescent pigment with ferric oxide and partially converting the ferric oxide (Fe_2O_3) into ferrous ferric oxide (Fe_3O_4) via a reduction firing method. According to the present invention, the colored pearlescent pigment can exhibit the same color and gloss as red, violet, blue and green pearlescent pigments obtained by treating surfaces of the pearlescent pigments with ordinary carmine dye, ferrocyan blue dye, etc. Also, the colored pearlescent pigment can overcome problems which can occur under various conditions of a cosmetic formulation, such as change in color formation, color breakup (bleeding), color permeation in a formulation, etc. which appear due to pH conditions and interaction between raw materials. Accordingly, the colored pearlescent pigment can be practically used as a substitute for an existing pearlescent pigment. In addition, the colored pearlescent pigment comprises only stable inorganic materials and thus can be formed freely from various regulation as a natural or synthetic chemical color is not required. |
