A power conversion device (100) is provided with: a rectifying circuit (3), which is connected to an alternating current power supply (1), and which converts alternating current power into direct current power, said alternating current power having been supplied from the alternating current power supply (1); a short-circuiting unit (30), which is configured from a diode bridge (31), and short-circuiting elements (32) connected to both the output ends of the diode bridge (31), and which short-circuits the alternating current power supply (1) via a reactor (2); and a control unit (20) that generates, during the half cycle of the alternating current power supply (1), a plurality of drive signals (Sa) for controlling the short-circuiting unit (30). The control unit (20) generates a sinusoidal current control range, i.e., a target control range of a power supply current (Is) of the alternating current power supply (1), and keeps the value of the power supply current (Is) of the alternating current power supply (1) within the current control range. |
