<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water stopping device for a spot welding machine, which prevents the outflow of cooling water from a shank when removing an electrode from the shank. <P>SOLUTION: A turning member 2 is arranged in the turning member storing part 1a of a body 1 turnably within the range of a predetermined angle from a first position to a third position. A cooling water inlet 1e, a cooling water outlet 1g, a waste water inlet 1h, a waste water outlet 1f, a compressed air inlet 1i and a compressed air outlet 1j which are communicated with the turning member storing part 1a are formed on the outer surface of the body 1. In the turning member 2 in the first position, a cooling water flow passage 2a which connects the cooling water inlet 1e and the cooling water outlet 1g and a first waste water flow passage 2b which connects the waste water inlet 1h and the waste water outlet 1f are formed.
