<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device capable of extracting light generated from plural light emitting elements from one light emitting element. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting device comprises a substrate, an end face light emission type element provided on the substrate or a holding member fixed to the substrate, and a light emitting diode element provided on the substrate so that it crosses an axis almost vertical to a light emission end face, the origin of the axis being in the light emission end face of the end face light emission type element.
