PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleep stage determination apparatus that can determine a sleep stage with high accuracy by adopting a proper normalization technique.SOLUTION: A sleep stage determination apparatus includes: a normalization unit 6 for constantly controlling a peak value by performing a gain control to the detected heartbeat signal in the non-invasive and unconstraint manner with respect to a user's heartbeat signal, and for performing normalization about data of the heartbeat intensity calculated by using a value of the at that time; and a sleep stage determination unit 8 for determining the user's sleep stage based on a variance value showing the variations of data of the predetermined time calculated about the data of the normalized heartbeat intensity normalized by the normalization unit 6. The normalization unit 7 calculates moving average value of HinN=Hin*100/Hin as a normalized heartbeat intensity HinN, when the value of the gain obtained by the gain control is AGCr and the heartbeat signal intensity is Hin.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
