PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mounted inductor capable of improving a superposition current value Idc and a resistance value Rdc and also capable of being manufactured inexpensively, and a manufacturing method for the surface-mounted inductor.SOLUTION: A surface-mounted inductor includes a coil 11 formed by winding a conductive wire, and a molded body 17 formed by using a sealing member that contains a resin and a magnetic material and incorporating the coil. The coil is formed by winding a conductive wire such that a leading end is positioned at the outer periphery of the winding. The molded body is formed such that the surface of the coil is partially exposed at four side surfaces of the molded body which are parallel to the winding axis of the coil and such that the area of a portion outside the outer periphery of the winding of the coil is substantially equal to or smaller than the area of a portion inside the inner periphery of the winding of the coil.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
