PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve train for an internal combustion engine, capable of inhibiting an abutment area between a control shaft and a cam from deviating from a hold section when using the hold section provided on the cam for holding a maximum lift amount.SOLUTION: The variable valve train for the internal combustion engine includes the control shaft for changing the maximum lift amount of an intake valve according to the displacement in the axial direction, and a cam 530 to be rotated abutting on the control shaft to displace the control shaft in the axial direction. On the cam face of the cam 530, there are provided change sections where the maximum lift amounts are changed, and a plurality of hold sections where the maximum lift amounts are held in such a manner that one maximum lift amount to be held is different from another, respectively. The lengths of the hold sections are set so that the hold section is longer as the maximum lift amount to be held therein is greater.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
