PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to prevent remarkable lowering of a productivity since a job is interrupted in association with invalidation of a license.SOLUTION: There are provided a printer having a printer engine, by which printing can be performed at a first print speed and a second print speed higher than the first print speed, and a control method for the printer. A license which permits printing at the second print speed is managed, whether the license is invalidated or not during execution of a job at the second print speed is determined, and when it is it determined that the license is invalidated, whether the license is updated or not is inquired for a user. In response to the inquiry, it is instructed to update the license so that the user receives instructions to update the license, and based on the license, execution of a job at the second print speed is controlled.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
