PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device which inhibits reduction of a coating thickness of a coating liquid applied to a base material.SOLUTION: A coating device 1 applies a coating liquid (an electrode paste P) to a base material (a belt-like metal foil L) and includes: a dam 2 which stores the coating liquid and adjusts a coating width of the coating liquid applied to the base material; a coating roll 3 which rotates while receiving supply of the coating liquid from the dam 2; a comma roll 5 (a registered trademark) which adjusts a coating thickness of the coating liquid applied to the base material by a gap G formed between itself and a peripheral surface 3a of the coating roll 3; and a back roll 4 which transfers the coating liquid on the coating roll 3 to the base material.
