Provided is an endoscope system (1), comprising: an insertion part (6) which is inserted into an inner part of a subject; an observation window (8) which is disposed upon the insertion part (6), and which acquires a first subject image from thereahead; an observation window (10) which is disposed upon the insertion part (6), and which acquires a second subject image from a side direction other than thereahead; an illumination window (7) which emits a first illumination light thereahead; an illumination window (9) which emits a second illumination light to the side; and a control unit (42) which, on the basis of signals which detect signals which denote the temperatures of the illumination windows (7, 9), independently controls the amount of light of the first illumination light of the illumination window (7) and the amount of light of the second illumination light of the illumination window (9). |
