The invention relates to a device for applying a transcutaneous electric stimulation signal to the surface of a section of the human ear which has a number of electrodes, wherein the device comprises a control unit which is designed to introduce a stimulation current (I) flowing via the electrodes according to a predetermined progression of the stimulation current (I) over time (t). In order to enable effective treatment of certain disease patterns via transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation, the invention provides that the stimulation device generates currents with periodically repeating current intensity (I), wherein the frequency (f = 1/T) of the repeating currents lies between 0.5 Hz and 2 Hz. |
