The present invention facilitates allocation of volumes in a highly available system. A management computer receives a designation of a host computer to which a volume is to be allocated, and a designation of the capacity of the volume; selects, as a candidate for a first storage device, a storage device that can communicate with the designated host computer and that can provide a volume having the designated capacity; causes a display device to display the selected storage device; receives a designation of the first storage device; selects, as a candidate for a second storage device, a storage device that can communicate with the designated host computer and the designated first storage device and that can provide a volume having the designated capacity; causes the display device to display the selected storage device; receives a designation of the second storage device; and commands the first storage device and the second storage device to start bidirectional mirroring. |
