发明名称 Improvements in means for conveying and/or handling materials
摘要 516,976. Step-by-step conveyers; crushing mills; rotary furnaces. ANDERSON, N. R. July 13,1938, No. 20713. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups II and XII] A conveyer suitable for use in such processes.as drying, roasting, retorting, calcining, carbonising, filtering, evaporating and precipitating comprises an outer member and a coacting inner member, each of which is provided with one or more material supporting surfaces, and to which are imparted longitudinal and rotary movements of such a character that the material is transf e r re d alternately from one member to the other and is moved along them in a step-by-step manner. In the form shown in Figs. 9A ... 9E, the outer member 30 is tubular and has an intermittent movement of rotation. The inner member 80' is slightly less wide than the bore of the member 30 and has surfaces 83, 85 on which material can rest. It is reciprocated and turned about its axis. Pieces of material a, b, c, d take up the positions shown in successive figures as movement of the members 80, 30 takes place. If one end of the member 30 is closed, these movements can be used to feed material in and out of the other end. The outer member may be a corrugated sheet, and the inner members troughs of semi-circular cross-section or. angle irons. A flat or corrugated sheet may be used to cover the outer member.' A retort is shown in Fig. 6 through which the material is conveyed as above described. The material is placed in a feed box 39, one side 35 of which supports the outer tubular member 30. The inner wall 35A of the discharge bin 41 supports the other end of the member. An angular-section inner member 33 passes through the member 30 into the bins, and is connected by a bent rod'46 to a shaft 47 driven by rack-and-pinion mechanism 97, .98 mounted on a stand 96. The rack is connected to the piston of a double-acting hydraulic cylinder 99, and the stand, which is slidable in guides 100, is coupled to the piston of a similar cylinder 101. A sealing plate 51 on the shaft 47 is connected by a canvas or asbestos sheet bellows 52 to the sides of the bin 41. Slots 54 are cut.in the top of the member 30 to permit the escape of gas. These slots may be replaced by a pipe 55. The conveyer may also be used for the removal of deposits from liquids, e.g., the solids which are deposited during the concentration of brine. The tubular members 30, Fig. 8, connect headers 105, 107, the former of which is divided into compartments by a plate 111 and has an inlet 106 and and outlet 108. Each tube 30 contains an angular member 33 which is connected to a driving shaft 47 as shown in Fig. 6. In another modification the outer tubular member is mounted on wheels and is reciprocated by a cam disc while the inner member is rotated by a pulley. The apparatus may be arranged to have a crushing action by providing teeth or projections on either or both of the members.
