PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to improve a detection accuracy and to prevent occurrence of jamming.SOLUTION: A detection device senses a recording material passing through a transportation path with an optical sensor. In the detection device, the optical sensor has a light source, and a photodetector which applies the light emitted from the light source to the recording material and detects an intensity of regularly reflected light on the recording material. An angle of light incident to the recording material from the light source is not less than 80° and not more than 88°. The light source and the photodetector are disposed in a casing, and the casing has approach prevention means which prevents the recording material from approaching into the casing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11 |
