PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can suppress a reduction in detection accuracy due to a curve of electrostatic latent images for correction in performing color shift correction by using the electrostatic latent images for correction.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes control means for causing light irradiation means to form a plurality of latent image marks that are electrostatic latent images for correction on a photoreceptor along the direction of rotation of the photoreceptor, and detection means for detecting the plurality of latent image marks. The control means determines a formation range of the plurality of latent image marks in the main scanning direction orthogonal to the direction of rotation on the basis of the shape of a scan line of the light irradiation means for scanning the photoreceptor, and thereby causing the light irradiation means to form the plurality of latent image marks so as to prevent two or more latent image marks from simultaneously entering a detection area where the detection means detects the latent image marks.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12 |
