PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handheld device which can easily and surely acquire a high-quality optoacoustic image and a corresponding method.SOLUTION: A handheld device (10) comprises an irradiation unit (2b) which irradiates an object with electromagnetic radiation (5), especially light radiation, and detector units (1a, 1b) which detect the ultrasonic waves emitted from the object with light irradiation. The detector units have the array of detector elements. The handheld device comprises a recessed part (6) for acquiring a high-quality tomographic optoacoustic image from various depths in the object. The irradiation unit and the array of the detector elements are provided in the recessed part. The detector elements are arranged in the recessed part so that at least the partial surface normal line of the detector elements is directed to the area of interest above or inside the object. |
