Provided is a technique for producing a porous cellulose medium whereby a porous cellulose medium is produced through gelation that does not cause a reaction entailing substance movement in a solution having cellulose acetate, which constitutes a starting material, dissolved therein. Specifically, the present invention provides a method for producing a porous cellulose medium, said method including a step in which a composition including cellulose acetate, an organic solvent, and water and having uniform fluidity is made to gel by reducing temperature, and a step in which the cellulose acetate included in the obtained gel is hydrolyzed. |
