PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the leakage of a current to members others than a honeycomb structure upon energizing the honeycomb structure.SOLUTION: An exhaust gas treatment device includes a first inorganic mat material wound around the outer circumferential surface a honeycomb structure, a first cylindrical metallic member for storing the honeycomb structure around which the first inorganic mat material is wound, a second inorganic mat material wound around the outer circumferential surface of the first cylindrical metallic member, and a second cylindrical metallic member for storing the first cylindrical metallic member around which the second inorganic mat material is wound. On at least one of a first portion of the inner surface of the first cylindrical metallic member, abutting on the first inorganic mat material, a second portion of the outer surface of the first cylindrical metallic member, abutting on the second inorganic mat material, and a third portion of the inner surface of the second cylindrical metallic member, abutting on the second inorganic mat material, a dense insulation layer having a thickness of 20 μm-400 μm is formed. |
