Using the technologies, which may be embodied in various systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media, a user may custom-tailor emoticons and other electronic representations of emotions to convey a human emotion experienced by the user. The technologies may involve receiving emotion input data from the user with the active participation of the user, or they may involve automatically collecting such data. The technologies may involve continuous feedback functionalities based on machine learning.
