PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processed product of a mineral filler, having improved surface characteristics, and especially a high volatile onset temperature.SOLUTION: A method for preparing a processed product of a mineral filler comprises the following steps of: (a) preparing a calcium carbonate-containing mineral filler; (b) preparing a saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid having C6-9 carbon atoms; (c) contacting the calcium carbonate-containing mineral filler of step (a), in one or more steps, with the at least one saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid of step (b) such that the added amount of the saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid corresponds to a theoretical total number of molecules of between 1×1018 and 1×1020/m2 on the surface of processed mineral filler product; and (d) forming a processing layer comprising the at least one saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid and/or reaction products of the at least one saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid, on a surface of the at least one processed mineral filler, and thereby obtaining a processed mineral filler product. |
