PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electrolyte for nonaqueous electrolyte batteries, which enables the reduction in gas generation amount; and a nonaqueous electrolyte battery arranged by use of such an electrolyte.SOLUTION: An electrolyte for nonaqueous electrolyte batteries comprises at least hexafluorolithium phosphate as a solute and at least one imide salt having a phosphoryl group expressed by the formula (I), provided that electrolyte substantially does not comprise bis(oxalate)borate, tris(oxalate)phosphate, difluoro bis(oxalate)phosphate or the like.
