Provided is a composite member having a core member and a linear surface member, the composite member being high in adhesive strength between the core member and the linear surface member and capable of providing an outstanding sliding property when used as a sliding composite member. The present invention is a composite member with a linear surface member wound around and cohered to a core member, wherein the core member contains an electrically conductive material, and before the cohesion of the linear surface member, has a sectional shape in which a distance (D1) from the center of gravity to a first point on an outline is different from a distance (D2) to a second point, the minimum distance value (Dmin) from the center of gravity to the outline is 5 μm or greater, and the variation shown in Equation (1) below is 100% or greater.
