PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanium oxide particles having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 100 μm and a uniform nearly spherical or polyhedral shape and to provide a simple and efficient method for producing the titanium oxide particles.SOLUTION: There are provided rutile type titanium oxide particles containing molybdenum having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 100 μm. In addition, there is provided a method for producing titanium oxide particles containing molybdenum which comprises a step of firing a titanium compound in the presence of a molybdenum compound, wherein the molar ratio between titanium atoms in the titanium compound and molybdenum atoms in the molybdenum compound is 0.5 to 35. There are provided a method for producing rutile type titanium oxide particles containing molybdenum and titanium oxide particles obtained by the production method. |
