The present disclosure generally relates to a device for positioning and immobilizing at least two adjacent vertebrae. In particular, in one or more embodiments, the present disclosure relates to spinous process fusion devices that distract and immobilize the spinous processes of adjacent vertebrae.

1. A surgical method comprising:
providing a spinous process fusion device, wherein the device comprises:
a body;a first wing, wherein the first wing includes upper and lower teeth; anda second wing, wherein the second wing includes upper and lower teeth; inserting the body and the first wing into a patient without the second wing, wherein the first wing is inserted such that the upper teeth of the first wing contact a first spinous process and the lower teeth of the first wing contact a second spinous process; and inserting the second wing into the patient, wherein the second wing is inserted such that the upper teeth of the second wing contact the first spinous process and the lower teeth of the second wing contact the second spinous process.
