984,048. Pivoted windows; hinges and stays. BOULTON & PAUL Ltd. Sept. 24, 1963 [Sept. 28, 1962], No. 36926/62. Headings E1J and E2F. A window inner frame 21 has sliding members 24, 25 mounted on adjacent sides, each member being slidable to co-operate with the outer frame 32 to form pivots which, with a coupling 38, 41 at the corner between the adjacent sides, allow the window frame 21 to pivot about selectable axis at right angles. The inner frame of extruded metal section with corner brackets 22 has formed grooves 23 housing sliding members 24, 25, 26 engageable when extended, with rockets 31, 34, 36 in the outer frame 32 to form pivots for the window on the axis 3-3 and 4-4 and a lock 26, 36. Movement of the sliding members when the window is open is prevented by spring loaded plungers 37 contacting the ends of the members. The bracket 22 at the corner between the adjacent sides of the inner frame has rigid therewith a plug 38 having a part spherical base 38a engaging with a corresponding surface 41a on a boss 41 rigid with the outer frame. The ends of the sliding members 24, 25 are reduced in diameter at 44, 47 and interlock in holes 40, 39 in the plug 38 to prevent release of more than one pivot at one time. The sliding members are operated by handles 30, 33, 35 passing through slots in the inner frame members. |
