The invention relates to a system (1) for generating random bits (ZB) comprising: a plurality of imaging devices (21 - 2m), wherein a respective imaging device (21 - 2m) is configured to image a predetermined number n of input signals (E11 - Emn) with the aid of a combinatorial imaging means (K1 - Km) into a predetermined number p of output signals (A11 - Amp), wherein the imaging devices (21 - 2m) are linked to one another and form at least one feedback loop in such a way that a change in state of at least one output signal (Aij) of an imaging device (2i) is delivered to another imaging unit (2k) as a change in state of at least one input signal (Ekl), and wherein at least one combinatorial imaging means (K1 - Km) is configured in such a way that a change in state of an input signal (E11 - Emn) of a respective imaging device (21 - 2m) is imaged on average to more than one output signal (A11 - Amp) of the respective imaging device (21 - 2m). As a result random bit values can be read off at a higher bit rate by comparison with conventional one-way ring oscillators. |
