A method for allowing a user equipment (UE) to transmit uplink control information in a subframe configured for transmitting of a scheduling request in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving a radio resource control (RRC) signal for configuring a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) format for acknowledgement transmission among a plurality of PUCCH formats; and transmitting acknowledgement information through a PUCCH based on the configured PUCCH format, wherein when the UE is configured with a first PUCCH format, transmitting the acknowledgement information includes: channel coding control information bits including at least one acknowledgement information bit and a scheduling request information bit using Reed-Muller (RM) codes to generate channel coded control information bits, the at least one acknowledgement information bit being placed before the scheduling request information bit,modulating the channel coded control information bits to generate N1 modulation symbols, wherein N1 is twice of a number of subcarriers in one resource block (RB),discrete fourier transformation (DFT) precoding N1/2modulation symbols of the N1 modulation symbols to generate a first sequence,DFT precoding another N1/2 modulation symbols of the N1 modulation symbols to generate a second sequence, andtransmitting the first and second sequences using a PUCCH resource allocated for hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) transmission in the subframe, wherein the first sequence is transmitted in a 1st slot of the subframe, and the second sequence is transmitted in a 2nd slot of the subframe, and wherein when the UE is configured with a second PUCCH format, transmitting the acknowledgement information includes: channel coding the acknowledgement information to generate second control information including a two bit value indicating a counter of acknowledgements,transmitting the second control information using a PUCCH resource allocated for scheduling request transmission in the subframe.
