The present invention relates to a composition for promoting growth comprising beta-glucan. The beta-glucan has a glucose main chain linked by a β-(1, 3) bond. In the beta glucan, at least one of the glucoses of the main chain is linked with a branched glucose by a β-(1, 4) bond, and the β-(1, 4) bond accounts for 30% or higher of β-glucosidic bonds.
