The present invention relates to a connecting rod (30, 130, 230, 330) for an internal combustion engine, comprising a connecting rod shank (31), a large connecting-rod eye (32), and a small connecting-rod eye (33) having a pin bore (34). According to the invention, the end face (35) of the small connecting-rod eye (33) has, over the entire width (b) thereof transverse to the center axis (B) of the pin bore (34), at least one projection (36, 37), which extends parallel to the center axis (B) of the pin bore (34) and on which an edge (38, 39) extending parallel to the center axis (B) of the pin bore (34) is formed.
