PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize power consumption in a high-performance computer (HPC) system.SOLUTION: In an HPC system, a resource manger 100 intentionally introduces heterogeneity to an execution velocity of not all nodes but a part of nodes 102 allocated to an application 101 during execution of the application 101. The heterogeneity changes a length of a time to be taken to wait in a coordination point, and a computation intensive application is much affected by the change, but an application of an IO-bound is not much affected thereby. When the application 101 is the IO-bound, all of the node 102 is switchable to a low power state for economizing energy. When the application runs via phases along with various ways of energy use and performance characteristic, a hardware configuration is adjusted so as to maintain optimal efficiency. |
