PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment dispersion production method that efficiently produces a pigment dispersion having a small average particle size and an excellent dispersibility and having a moderate crystallinity degree.SOLUTION: Provided is a pigment dispersion production method comprising the following step (I) and step (II). Step (I): a step for reducing the crystallinity degree of an organic pigment by dry milling. Step (II): a step for wet dispersing the mixture containing the organic pigment, having gone through the step (I), a dispersant and a liquid medium to produce a pigment dispersion.
