摘要 The present invention relates to a negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a negative electrode active material particle, characterized in that the negative electrode active material particle is formed from a silicon compound represented by SiOx (0.5 ≤ x ≤ 1.6) and a carbon component-containing carbon coating that coats a surface of the silicon compound; the negative electrode active material particle comprises a SiO2 component having a tridymite structure; and the half-width (2θ) of a diffraction peak obtained around 21.825° in X-ray diffraction is 0.15° or less. Thus provided is a negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery enabling an increase in battery capacity and improvements in cycle characteristics and initial charging and discharging characteristics.
