PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve the fuel economy performance of a spark ignition type internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: When controlling a spark ignition type internal combustion engine which ignites an air-fuel mixture in a cylinder by initiating spark discharge in an ignition plug arranged in a cylinder, an increase amount of mechanical energy which is outputted by the internal combustion engine by increasing electrical energy inputted into the ignition plug, and a mechanical energy amount which is excessively consumed by a generator which generates power by being driven by the internal combustion engine for power-generating an increase amount of electrical energy which is inputted into the ignition plug are compared, and when the former exceeds the latter, the amount of the electrical energy inputted into the ignition plug is set larger than an amount of electrical energy inputted into the ignition plug in the case that the former does not exceed the latter. |
