An asphalt coating for roofing waterproof membranes is provided and comprises: from about 30 to about 88 weight percent (wt％) of asphalt; from about 0.1to about 15 wt％of a low molecular weight (MW) polyethylene;from about 1 to about 30 wt％of a thermoplastic elastomer; from about 5 to about 48 wt％of an inorganic filler; and from about 1 to about 20 wt％of a softening agent; all based on the total weight of the asphalt coating.
