An exercise monitoring device comprises left and right housings 1 each containing a sensor 2L and 2R, which may be load cells; to measure isometric and isotonic muscle forces. This may allow forces in, for example, the left arm to be measured separately from the right arm. The housings are provided with connection means 4L and 4R to engage with exercise devices (Figs 4 and 5). The housings may be connected via a common pivot or hinge 3 allowing them to rotate and align in the direction of an applied force (Fig 8). A further connector 5 may be coupled to a fixed object. Load cell readings may be wirelessly downloaded to a remote device such as a computer or phone (Figs 10 and 11). Associated software may allow analysis of the users fitness and may suggest a series of varying exercises to increase muscle strength. (Figs 12-16). |
