User experience is enhanced for Internet Protocol Multimedia Core Network Subsystem (IMS) based rich communication services in telecommunication environments. A system receives, from a user equipment, a session initiation protocol invitation packet to commence a communication session, and as a function of the session initiation protocol invitation packet, displays an access network technology type used by the user equipment to access a network device associated with a multiple access communication network.

receiving, from a user equipment device, a session initiation protocol invitation packet to commence a communication session, wherein the session initiation protocol invitation packet comprises a first field that denotes an access network technology type used by the user equipment device to initiate sending of the session initiation protocol invitation packet; andas a function of the session initiation protocol invitation packet, decoding, interpreting, and displaying the access network technology type used by the user equipment device to access a network device associated with a multiple access communication network.
