<p>Apparatus and method for removing hydrocarbons from water is disclosed. Housing containing a filtration compartment and a treatment compartment, is designed for insertion into a drainage opening (not shown) in a parking lot or containment area. Porous pipes serve to remove substantially all debris and sediment from a fluid stream. Treatment compartment contains a hydrocarbon absorption media, which in the event of a hydrocarbon spill, forms a plug that seals off the flow of contaminated water. Heater element keeps the unit operational in cold weather.</p> |
