Disclosed herein are protective inserts for sensitive devices, including devices with screen interfaces, which cases provide protection from front, back and edge impacts.

1. A protective insert for a protective case, comprising:
a longitudinal body comprising a front surface and a back surface opposite to the front surface; at least one longitudinal protective element disposed at the front surface, the at least one longitudinal protective element comprising an upper surface and a sidewall extending downwardly from the upper surface, wherein the at least one longitudinal protective element further comprises a body that comprises a base layer and a surface layer, and a polymeric material encapsulated by the base layer and the surface layer; a plurality of channels defined in the at least one protective element, each of the channels disposed about perpendicular to the at least one protective element and comprising a sidewall extending downwardly from the upper surface; and a plurality of cushioning regions defined by the plurality of channels, disposed in the at least one protective element.
