PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bean appearance inspector and a bean appearance inspection method that enable beans unsuitable for products to be screened out efficiently by inspecting the external appearance of beans.SOLUTION: Images of the surface of inspection object beans are acquired to screen out beans judged to be defective on the basis of acquired images. An appearance inspector comprises transportation means configured of a belt capable of being moved by roller rotation, imaging means that images a plurality of beans mounted on the transportation means, quality judgment means that judges quality for every bean on the basis of captured images, and jet means that jets compressed air to beans falling from the terminal end of the transportation means. The jet means screens out only beans judged to be defective out of beans falling from the apex of the roller at the terminal end of the belt by blowing the defective beams out with jets of compressed air at predetermined positions on a free fall curve. |
