PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tsunami detecting device that can be installed ashore, distinguish tsunami-generated infra-sounds from infra-sounds caused by any other event and function even without communication with outside.SOLUTION: A tsunami detecting device is equipped with: an earthquake sensing unit 10 that senses the occurrence of tsunamis and earthquakes; an earthquake magnitude assessing unit 20 that determines whether any earthquake sensed by the earthquake sensing unit 10 is equal to or larger than a prescribed magnitude level; an infra-sound measuring unit 30 that measures infra-sounds; a tsunami determining unit 40 that, when any earthquake equal to or larger than the prescribed magnitude level is sensed, determines the presence or absence of any tsunami on the basis of the extent of sound pressure variations of the infra-sounds measured by the infra-sound measuring unit 30; and a determining time setting unit 50 that sets the length of time from the sensing of any earthquake equal to or larger than the prescribed magnitude level until the tsunami determining unit 40 makes a determination. |
