FOCUS DETECTOR, CONTROL METHOD OF THE SAME, AND IMAGING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus detector capable of suppressing the reduction in focus detection accuracy even when a saturation signal is included in a signal for focus detection, and provide a control method of the focus detector.SOLUTION: For each pixel line, the focus detector determines the ratio of a saturation signal included in one of a first signal based on the light flux passing through a first pupil region of an image formation optical system, and a second signal based on the light flux passing through a second pupil region different from the first pupil region. A defocus amount is calculated using the evaluation value acquired about a pixel line on which the ratio of the saturation signal does not exceed a threshold.
