PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light amplifier and a control method for the same that can control the level of an output signal so that the level of the output signal is equal to a target value when a burst signal input in a wavelength range assumed by a system is amplified by SOA.SOLUTION: A light amplifier has a function of detecting the wavelength and light intensity of an input optical burst signal and performing feed-forward control by referring to a table describing the relationship of input light intensity, output light intensity and driving current of SOA every wavelength. Furthermore, the light amplifier may perform control by only a function of detecting the light intensity of an output optical burst signal, and performing feed-back control. |
