PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which improves motion vector detection accuracy while suppressing expansion in circuit scale.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging section which captures a subject image and outputs an image signal; a motion vector detection section which detects a motion vector by using the image signal outputted from the imaging section; a generation section which generates information relating to the detected result of the motion vector as meta data; a recording section which records the image signal and the meta data on a recording medium while associating them with each other; and a control section by which, during imaging, the motion vector detection section is caused to detect the motion vector by using an image signal obtained by performing reduction processing or thinning processing on the image signal outputted from the imaging section and the generation section is caused to generate the meta data, and during reproduction of the recorded image, the motion vector detection section is caused to determine an image region to detect the motion vector on the basis of the meta data and to detect a motion vector by using an image signal obtained without performing the reduction processing or the thinning processing on the image signal outputted from the recording medium, or an image signal obtained by performing reduction processing with a smaller reduction rate or thinning processing with a smaller thinning rate than those during the imaging. |
