PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anaerobic biological treatment device and an anaerobic biological treatment method capable of stably subjecting organic matter-containing waste water having a high normal hexane extract concentration or a high SS concentration to anaerobic biological treatment at a high load.SOLUTION: Provided is an anaerobic biological treatment device 1 of subjecting organic matter-containing waster water having a normal hexane extract concentration of 100 mg/L or higher or an SS concentration of 100 mg/L or higher to biological treatment under an anaerobic atmosphere, comprising: a single tank type biological treatment tank 10 of subjecting the organic matter-containing waster water to anaerobic biological treatment in the presence of a carrier 16; and a stirring apparatus 14 of stirring the organic matter-containing waste water in the single tank type biological treatment 10 and the carrier 16.
