PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium oxide base additive capable of sufficiently exhibiting functions as a thickner for FRP and not causing deterioration in its material physical properties, a resin composition containing the magnesium oxide base additive, and a molded body using the resin composition.SOLUTION: Provided is a magnesium oxide base additive comprising magnesium oxide particles in which BET specific surface area is 10 to below 80 m/g and also the average particle diameter of a dry particle size distribution is 5 to 10 μm or a surface-treated objected thereof, also provided is a resin composition containing the magnesium oxide base additive, and also provided is a molded body using the resin composition.
