PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for pairing two devices, one of which is a first device the other is a second device, with a required level of security.SOLUTION: The method is implemented at the first device includes: a step 407 of generating a tracing pattern to be displayed on either or both of the first and second devices; a step 409 of sending the second device the whole or a part of the tracing pattern to be displayed on the second device if necessary; a step 412 of displaying the corresponding tracing pattern on the first device; a step 414 of receiving information indicating the result of tracing the pattern on the second device; and a step 424 of accepting pairing of the two devices.
